"If it matters in our community, it matters to Comcast-Spectacor,” said Comcast-Spectacor Charities Chairman Fred Shabel. “Wilmington is an important community to our company as many of our fans and customers travel from Wilmington to events at Wells Fargo Center. We are pleased to continue our support of an organization that is clearly making a difference to the children, youth and families in one of our local communities."
“We are so appreciative of Comcast’s support of Rodney Street throughout the years. We are honored to receive their sponsorship once again and we thank them for the recognition of our programs and services,” said RSTTA Chairman Bill Curry.
The sponsorship will support Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring Association’s Family Focus Tutoring Program, GED/ABE Program, Winter Indoor Tennis Program, and the full-day, eight-week Outdoor Summer Tennis Program coupled with Summer Academic Enrichment for youth living in Wilmington, Delaware.
About Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring Association
RSTTA, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and USTA NJTL Chapter provides year round, after-school and out-of-school programs that are designed to combat pressing community concerns: truancy; poor academic achievement contributing to an alarmingly low graduation rate; gang activity; drug and alcohol dependency; and unhealthy lifestyles. The RSTTA curriculum supports both the personal development of the “whole” child as well as the communal development of the neighborhoods in which these children live and play. As an adjunct to its youth enrichment programs, RSTTA provides adult family members of its participants with the opportunity to receive training and tutoring for GED certification and/or college readiness. RSTTA’s principal sponsors are Comcast|NBC10 and Comcast-Spectacor Charities. Additional support comes from foundations, corporate, public and private resources.
