Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Association is pleased to announce that Jeff Harrison has become the new Chairman of the Board, succeeding Bill Curry who has held the position since 2013. Jeff, a member of the Rodney Street board since 2010, began his term as Chair in January of 2015.
Congrats to RSTTA Junior Leader and Instructor Colin Horgan for his recent Ken Isaacs Sportsmanship Award from the USTA Delaware District!
Colin is a shining example for our younger students both on and off the court and we are so lucky to have watched him grow into the great leader that he is today. Way to go, Colin!

Amidst the medals and trophies, RSTTA friends and families received another special treat during this year’s Closing Award Ceremony: an appearance by Governor Jack Markell! During the celebration, which commemorates RSTTA students’ hard work and dedication throughout the eight week summer season,
Governor Markell shared words of encouragement to Rodney Street youth and applauded the efforts of the organization. The Governor helped distribute awards to those who excelled during the summer and capped off his visitwith a meet and greet for each camper to introduce themselves. It was a great evening enjoyed by all (for more photos check out Governor Markell’s Flikr page here)!
Our Summer Tennis Program came to a close today after 8 weeks of full-day, tennis fun! We celebrated the end of the season with a Closing Ceremony on the Rodney Street courts. DuPont Country Club hosted tennis players throughout New Castle County to their club today for an instructional tennis session by former #1 Doubles Ranking Olympic Medalist Lisa Raymond!
Rodney Street students were honored to attend the free session and learn tips from the tennis star.
We saw some future chemists & budding engineers on the RSTTA courts today!
K-5th graders joined Special Guest Teacher Ms. Sarah for a reading of Dr. Seuss' Bartholomew and the Oobleck. Then, the students made their very own ooey, gooey oobleck!
The 6th - 8th graders joined the fun as they competed with one another to build the tallest standing structure using just uncooked pasta noodles, marshmallows and a small strip of tape. It was a great day of science fun, thanks Ms. Sarah!
RSTTA took a break from the tennis courts this sunny morning for a trip to the Delaware Museum of Natural History! It was a day full of bears, bugs and "bizarre beasts" and we had a blast! Special thanks to our volunteer chaperones and the museum for hosting our group.
Every Wednesday, ShopRite's registered dietician team visits Rodney Street students to teach them the importance of a healthy, balanced meal and other nutritious tips.
Today, Ms. Beth visited us on the courts for a lesson about fruit and vegetables! "What do we tell the photographer?" she asked. "We love veggies!!"
RSTTA Junior Leaders gave a great welcome to Irish teens from the Ulster Project Delaware this afternoon for the 3rd Annual International Play Day!

On Thursday, May 8th, more than 375 guests joined legendary tennis player Jim Courier at the Greenville Country Club to support Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring
Association (RSTTA) for the 5th Annual Spring Benefit. The event raised over $135,000!
It was an evening to remember as attendees from across New Castle County enjoyed special décor and cuisine from around the world, while celebrating the iconic Grand Slam tennis tournaments and listening to an exclusive interview from Jim Courier about his adventures during each championship event.
On behalf of the Host Committee of the 2014 Spring Benefit, the Board of Directors, staff, and the young students in the RSTTA program, we’d like to send a HUGE thank you to all of you that supported the 2014 Spring Benefit and took part in its success.
