Jim Courier, a Florida native, won four major titles during his tennis career and played in all four Grand Slam finals by the age of 22 — a record that still exists today. Courier was elected to the World Tennis Hall of Fame in 2005 and currently does TV commentary for CBS, the Tennis Channel and Channel 7-Australia. Courier also directs the tennis icon Powershares Series program and is the captain of the United States Davis Cup Team.
This year’s Spring Benefit event will be held on Thursday, May 8th at the Greenville Country Club from 6:00 – 9:30pm. The event is open to the public and tickets will be on sale beginning mid-March. “The popularity of the RSTTA Spring Benefit continues to grow each year and is expected to reach new heights with Jim Courier on board as our special guest,” said Debbie Walker, Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Association Benefit Co-Chair.
The theme of the event will be One Grand Slam and will highlight the four Grand Slam tournaments. Please visit the RSTTA website for up to date information about the Spring Benefit at wwww.rodneystreettennis.org.
About Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring Association
RSTTA, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and USTA NJTL Chapter provides year round, after-school and out-of-school programs that are designed to combat pressing community concerns: truancy; poor academic achievement contributing to an alarmingly low graduation rate; gang activity; drug and alcohol dependency; and unhealthy lifestyles. The RSTTA curriculum supports both the personal development of the “whole” child as well as the communal development of the neighborhoods in which these children live and play. As an adjunct to its youth enrichment programs, RSTTA provides adult family members of its participants with the opportunity to receive training and tutoring for GED certification and/or college readiness. RSTTA’s principal sponsors are Comcast|NBC10 and Comcast-Spectacor Charities. Additional support comes from foundations, corporate, public and private resources.
