Wilmington, DE (February 2013) - Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Association is pleased to announce that Justin Gimelstob will be the Celebrity Guest for the 2013 Spring Benefit.
Justin Gimelstob is a native of the Delaware Valley, growing up in New Jersey. He currently resides in Santa Monica, CA with his wife Cary. As a pro, he won the 1998 Australian Open and French Open mixed doubles titles with Venus Williams. He won a total of 10 singles titles and 15 doubles championships as a pro, and twice was a member of the U.S. Davis Cup team. Justin retired in 2007 and currently is a sports commentator for the Tennis Channel.
“We are truly thrilled to have Justin as our guest this year,” states Jane Brown Grimes, former USTA President and past RSTTA Chair. “He will add an air of excitement to the night. Guests will love him.”
This year’s event will be held on Friday, May 3rd at Brantwyn at the DuPont Country Club. The event is open to the public, and guests are not required to be tennis players! “The popularity of this event has grown over the last three years, and we hope to continue to grow the event as we move it from club to club.” said Kim Dolan, Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Benefit Co-chair.
Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Association (RSTTA), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1979 as a USTA NJTL Chapter, provides innovative tennis and educational enrichment programs to over 300 at-risk youth in the City of Wilmington, Delaware.
RSTTA’s mission is building lives through tennis and education.
RSTTA (www.rodneystreettennis.org) provides year round, after-school and out-of-school programs that are designed to combat pressing community concerns: truancy; poor academic achievement contributing to an alarmingly low graduation rate; gang activity; drug and alcohol dependency; and unhealthy lifestyles. The RSTTA curriculum supports both the personal development of the “whole” child as well as the communal development of the neighborhoods in which these children live and play. As an adjunct to its youth enrichment programs, RSTTA provides adult family members of its participants with the opportunity to receive training and tutoring for GED certification and/or college readiness. RSTTA’s principal sponsor is the Comcast Family of Companies. Additional support comes from foundations, corporate, public and private resources.
